The art of harvesting Hojari is an ancient tradition. Each spring, skilled harvesters make delicate incisions in the bark of the Boswellia Sacra tree, allowing the precious sap to flow and crystallize. These translucent “tears” of resin are gently collected. Each a gift of nature, shaped by time, sun, and devotion.

In the heart of Oman’s Dhofar region, where the desert meets the sea, grows the legendary Boswellia Sacra. A tree revered for thousands of years as the source of the world’s purest frankincense. For centuries, the people of Oman have cherished this sacred resin, known locally as luban, not just as a fragrance, but as a symbol of purity, healing, and divine connection.

Frankincense is a natural aromatic resin harvested from the Boswellia Sacra tree. When burned, it releases a warm, citrus-pine scent used for spiritual rituals, relaxation, and air purification for thousands of years.
Its scent is often described as citrusy, woody, slightly sweet, and spiritually uplifting. Omani frankincense is typically brighter, while Somali varieties are deeper and smokier.

Beyro (also spelled Beyo) is an aromatic wood used in Somali incense traditions.
Unlike frankincense, which is a resin, Beyro is a bark-like wood shavings that release a warm, smoky depth when burned.
It is commonly added to frankincense to enhance burn time, intensity, and complexity of the scent.
The combination is used to create Uunsi — traditional incense burned for:
Frankincense provides brightness, citrus notes, and purity.
Beyro provides warmth, smoke, and longevity.
Together, they form one of the most recognizable and cherished scents in the Horn of Africa.
High-quality Boswellia Sacra (especially Hojari) can be infused in water or chewed, but only food-grade resin should be used. Always follow proper guidance.
Color depends on the species, region, tapping season, and tree age. Hojari can appear white, green, or golden; Somali types tend to be darker and stickier.
